The Future Evolution of Human, 2020
2021-07-23 13:29:17

It was lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic 2020. One day I noticed a small article where an American scientist claimed-- Humans are aliens in this world!!! He also went on to make some supporting arguments. But he was labelled as insane, crazy etc. and having not received much attention the news got lost.

I could not get it out of my mind. I kept going back to the scientist’s remarks, and thinking; why did he say that?

The subject of my artwork is people – their emotions, struggles, exploitation, politics, society, etc. These are what I ponder and this is what I strive to depict in my artwork.

I kept dwelling on the fact that, indeed, man is in contrast to everything else in nature. In mankind's quest for survival they require so much while other animals do not need such. Man needs houses, medicine, education… Animals on the other hand blend with nature without needing these additional trappings. Humans have taken to manufacturing food and inorganically boosting food production, while all other animals are satisfied with what they get from nature.

.

With so much education, culture, law and order, rule-discipline, police-military, bombs and artillery, yet man have not been able to come together, in unison. How come animals manage to live without all these rules?

Humans know themselves as the most intelligent animals. They have vast knowledge and discoveries from the depths of the ocean to the mysteries of the universe. Man has conquered one unknown mystery after another. Now research is being done on other planets in space, investigating the existence of life and being tested for human habitation

If man is successful! If man discover another habitable planet! If people start living there and survive! And then if millions of years later generations start thinking that they are the original inhabitants of that planet! If you think they are the children of the nature of that planet! But will it be right? They are aliens there! Isn't it?

So? ......

Artist's statement
It only takes an unexpected and small incident to change the course of life, like the apple falling on Newton’s head leading to the discovery of the law of gravity. Fortunately it was an apple, and not a coconut!!!
